India did well to join leading democracies in diplomatically boycotting the Beijing winter olympics.

And China made the decision easy-by making a PLA regiment commander involved in the 2020 Galwan clashes a torchbearer in the Olympic relay.China,

therefore,politicised the games even though it has been levelling that charge against other nations.

Before India,the US and UK,Canada,Australia,

Estonia,Lithuania,Belgium,Kosovo and Denmark

Had all announced diplomatic boycotts of the Games

citing China's human rights violations.

Put together these countries constitute a sizeable 35%

of global GDP. Add To this,countries with well performance economics like Japan and those 

Asean grouping who have also seen there relation

With China become turbulent in recent years.

Therefore, the large message for China is that its political and security misadventures may not be costle economically. China may draw comfort from

The Olympic attendance of some prime ministers,

Head of the state and royalty. But note that of these dignitaries come from authoritarian countries.
